WHY CREATE THIS?
When I first learned NLP back in the 1980s in an influencing skills course, I found it really difficult to learn the Meta Model. The technical language: “modal operators;” “complex equivalences” confounded me, and listening to detect patterns in people’s speech did not come easy at all. Add to that listening out for specific words indicating when people were thinking in pictures, sounds or sensations, it felt like a lot to learn, and giving up was at times very tempting. It took me a couple of years of conversations, dogged determination, practice listening, reading and re-reading before I could say I’d got it.

THE ART OF CONVERSATION
The Meta Model for language (published by Grinder & Bandler in 1975 as The Structure of Magic) was the first set of language patterns that John Grinder, Richard Bandler and Frank Pucelik revealed to establish the field of NLP.
Your effectiveness with NLP depends on how skilled you are at asking those Meta Model questions. NLP is often called an art. So, become a modern Michelangelo in a very short time – learn to chip away with chisel-sharp questions to reveal your clients’ Model Of The World, help them tell you what they want, and help them notice what stops them having it.
Bill Phillips, the author
Bill is a Certified International NLP Coach, and an Approved Trainer and active Practitioner of New Code NLP, certified by John Grinder, Carmen Bostic St Clair and Michael Carroll in 2006. He has often been called upon by fellow NLP Trainers to co-evaluate and certify at their Practitioner trainings, and offers his services internationally to co-produce and co-teach courses and trainings in NLP.
He has a keen concern for the careful use of language in working with clients. Precision with words can accelerate and enhance effective change work. And so often, lack of precision can inadvertently undo it!
Bill is a long-recognized Master in the practical application of NLP to business and corporate life. Since his first NLP training in 1988 Bill has built an international reputation:
